A persistent rain and a mid-April cold snap conspired to drop a light dusting of snow on the city starting at about 11 p.m., according to Dan Pydynowski, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather.

The snow continued into early Wednesday, but Pydynowski assured weather-weary New Yorkers it was too warm for any significant accumulation.
