LITRATO: Storm Drops Feet of Hail on Mexico City

A long-lived and intense thunderstorm dumped hail that ended up being measured in feet in some parts of Mexico City Sunday afternoon and evening.

City tunnels and roadways became impassable in some locations and emergency workers were forced into action to free vehicles and open roads. Heavy equipment was needed to clean up the hail, similar to the clean-up efforts needed after a blizzard.

Kahit 36 people have been killed and 7 others remain missing after landslides caused by torrential rain hit the Japanese city of Hiroshima on Wednesday morning.

Hiroshima Prefecture police confirmed the Wednesday night death toll to AP,

A few people were washed away and it is hard to know exactly how many are unaccounted for,” local government official Nakatoshi Okamoto told the agency.

Crews rescued residents and motorists after a monsoon surge that brought extensive flooding to Arizona, trapped residents in their homes, closed a major freeway and paralyzed traffic on several streetsCBS affiliate KPHO reported.

Flooding in the Phoenix area forced authorities to close several major roads, including a portion of Interstate 17, while elsewhere firefighters rescued multiple motorists and a small trailer park was evacuated.

Nepal and India floods leave many dead

Kahit 160 people are reported to have been killed in floods and landslides following days of torrential rain in Nepal and northern India.

In Nepal, officials said at least 101 people were known to have died after rescuers found four more bodies. Higit sa 130 people are still missing.

In northern Indian states severe flooding after rainfall left at least 60 dead and entire villages marooned.

Heavy storms and rains on Friday (Agosto 15) pumatay ng hindi bababa sa 16 mga tao, including nine children, and injured over 80 others in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, opisyal ng sinabi.

The torrential monsoon rains damaged properties in the provincial capital Peshawar and its surrounding areas causing roofs and walls of houses to cave inin some cases killing those inside.
