Tornadoes, hail slam Wyoming

Weather service: 34 tornadoes in Okla. last week

-05.19.10- At least 34 tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma last week, the majority and most severe of them during one day, according to preliminary reports compiled by the National Weather Service… Weather service meteorologist Doug Speheger in Norman said the 24-twister total was the fourth-highest total for a single day in Oklahoma since official records began in 1950. Several tornadoes touch down across Oklahoma

-05.20.10- Two mobile homes were destroyed and several homes and businesses damaged in storms that brought a rash of tornadoes to Oklahoma, authorities say, but only few injuries were reported. The National Weather Service received more than a dozen reports of tornadoes, primarily clustered in central, northern and eastern Oklahoma. Read more

Heavy rain swamps Oklahoma

-05.20.10- Emergency services dragged a stranded motorist to safety through rapid floodwaters Thursday, and dozens of homes were flooded while hundreds had no power after heavy rain engulfed much of eastern Oklahoma. 2 weak tornadoes touch down in Missouri

-05.21.10- Officials say two weak tornadoes that touched down in southwest Sedalia did only minor damage and caused no injuries. Suzanne Fortin, a meterologist with the National Weather Service, says the tornadoes touched down briefly in a field near Smith-Cotton High School and just west of the Katy Trail Estates. Read more

Weather service: At least 5 tornadoes in S.D. storms

-05.24.10- The National Weather Service says there were at least five tornadoes that caused property damage in north-central South Dakota on Saturday. The service says it appears most of the twisters Saturday evening were in the EF1 or EF2 category, which is the least powerful. One possibly was an EF3 tornado with winds of up to 200 miles per hour. DRC: Scores buried by landslide, thousands still at risk

-05.20.10- Sixteen people have been confirmed dead and 27 missing after a landslide buried a village on a mountain slope in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), say aid workers in the North Kivu capital of Goma. The 16 May landslide on Kabiriga village on Nyiragongo volcano was caused by an overflowing river. Read more
